Collaboration in Action: Reflecting on the Rapid Review Process (Deliverable 2.1)

When we started Work Package 2 (WP2) of the D-CREDO project, we knew we had an ambitious goal: to review the latest literature on integrating digital health tools into clinical reasoning education. What we didn’t fully anticipate, however, was how this process would shape us as a team. As our first deliverable together, it was not just about meeting a deadline, it was about learning to collaborate effectively, understanding each other’s strengths, and building a foundation for future work. So, we started by getting to know each other, aligning our workflows, and finding ways to make our collaboration more effective while working towards our shared goal.

Our rapid review journey began with 13 team members from across Europe, each bringing unique expertise in fields like medicine, nursing, education, and technology. To ensure we stayed on track, we established a clear timeline from the start, allowing us to structure our workflow, set milestones, and adapt when needed. This approach kept us focused and aligned, reinforcing our commitment to both the process and the outcomes we aimed to achieve.

Weekly meetings on Zoom quickly became the heart of the process. These weren’t just status updates; they were lively, constructive discussions where challenges were tackled head-on. We shared insights, debated approaches, and refined our methods as a team. Each session brought different perspectives, helping us navigate the complexities of our review while staying aligned with our goals. Beyond the research, these meetings fostered a sense of trust and collaboration, turning a diverse group of experts into a cohesive team working towards a shared vision.

To keep things organized, we used Covidence, a review management tool that streamlined collaboration across borders. Still, success depended on how we worked together. We leveraged each team member’s strengths; whether it was navigating the finer details of inclusion criteria or finding creative solutions to challenges. From the beginning, the sheer amount of work looked quite overwhelming for just two months. But what carried us through was a great team and dedication. We learned, adapted, and turned what could have been a daunting task into an enriching experience.

Looking back, the rapid review wasn’t just about building a database of evidence; it was about building connections, and a sense of shared purpose. We didn’t just complete a task; we created a foundation for the rest of the project and strengthened the bonds that will carry us forward.

Now, as we prepare for the next steps of the D-CREDO project, we carry with us the lessons, energy, and camaraderie of this experience. Together, we’re excited to see what’s next. Stay tuned for more updates. We can’t wait to share the journey with you!
