The Society for Simulation in Medicine held its annual conference in Valencia, Spain, from June 26 to 27. This year’s event brought together 1,409 simulation experts and educators from 65 countries. The scientific programme featured 487 presentations over the three days of the meeting and aligned with the theme, “Developing, Adopting, and Embedding Innovative Simulation.”

The presentation “Enhancing Digital Transformation of Higher Medical Education in Times of Crisis: Experience from Ukraine”, which was co-authored by Tetiana Bilous, Tetiana Shchudrova, Tetiana Antofiichuk, and Olena Korotun and delivered by Iryna Popova, focused on projects that enhance medical education with digital tools and best European practices in medical education. The BSMU team presented the initial results of the D-CREDO project, as well as other EU-funded initiatives currently underway at the university. These projects are facilitating the advancement of digital and simulation educational technologies for Ukrainian students and educators in times of ongoing war. BSMU was proud to be a part of the Ukrainian delegation, sharing their experience of moving towards world standards of medical education with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Besides the presentation activities, the congress was filled with meaningful discussions, keynote lectures, workshops and training, and lots of networking opportunities. Each year SESAM brings together experts from all over the world to share their best practices, motivation and innovations in the field of simulation medicine and technology-enhanced education.
